Jonathan's StoryAlumni Story: Jonathan Ariel Puerto Muñoz (Class of 2020) My name is Jonathan Ariel Puerto Muñoz, and I graduated from Bay Islands International School (BIIS) in 2020. It feels like a long time ago now! Today, I’m working at a law firm as a legal assistant while pursuing my law degree. My path after BIIS wasn’t a straight line. Since I graduated during the COVID pandemic, I stayed home for a while and later worked in construction, where I even became a carpenter. Eventually, I enrolled in college first for financial engineering, but I soon realized that the career wasn’t for me. After some waiting, I started studying law, and today I’m more than halfway through my degree. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to work, travel, and gain experiences that have shaped who I am today. One of my favorite memories at BIIS was being part of its very first group of students. Watching the school grow year by year was truly special. I also spent countless hours learning and working with Mr. Paul Roberts, from after-school programs to building bookshelves and painting classrooms. His dedication taught me the value of service and giving back. The Bay Islands International School gave me so much more than academics. It prepared me to think critically, face challenges, help others, and work hard toward my goals. What makes BIIS unique is not only its high-quality education but also its commitment to making learning accessible for every student, whether through scholarships, sponsorships, or even giving parents opportunities to contribute in exchange for their child’s education. As one of the older students during my time there, I felt a responsibility to set an example for the younger ones. That experience shaped my character and taught me that someone is always looking up to you. To current BIIS students, I would say: not everything goes according to plan, and that’s okay. Every experience is an opportunity to learn. Work hard, stay positive, and you’ll be proud of what you achieve. I would recommend the Bay Islands International School to any family looking for a school that doesn’t just educate but truly transforms lives. I’m grateful to my classmates, teachers, and especially BIIS for giving me the foundation I needed to grow into the person I am today. |
